The spring 2024 round of NOBALIS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Capacity Development Program wrapped up with a Demo Day on May 2nd. 10 student teams made it to the Demo Day and had an opportunity to showcase their ideas in front of an international jury. Teams have been working with their ideas through the spring and have elaborated their business models, marketing and pricing plans, and pitching skills. The students’ ideas addressed a variety of different bioresources and services. Several ideas looked into the development of smart gardening and air filtration systems, platforms for nutritional advice and agricultural produce while others were specifically focused on product development based on biomass from the food industry, and the use of tree sap, algae, mussels, and cereals. The first place went to the team YeastTech from Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies which was working with yeast leftovers from breweries. Second place went to team Baltic Mussels from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences which was working on mussel farming in the Baltic Sea. The third place went to the team Lyckan from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and their idea focused on the green designs for social urban green spaces.
