The Demo Day of NOBALIS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Capacity Development Program (EICD) wrapped up the fall 2023 round of student pre-incubation program. Student teams from NOBALIS partner universities pitched the ideas they have been working on throughout the fall in front of an international jury.
The EICD program supports student teams working on the valorization of bioresources, food, and biotechnologies. The student teams worked with ideas related to biocosmetics, algae, cyanobacteria, food waste, lignin, mushrooms, and aquaponics systems, developing their business models, marketing plans, product concepts, funding plans, and pitching skills.
Teams had 3 minutes to pitch their ideas at the Demo Day in the competition for the cash prizes from BIA and for awards from each university.
The first place went to the team Vassa Hebin representing Estonian University of Life Sciences and their idea on the upcycling the biowaste into skin care products. The second place went to team BiIoAsphalt from Estonian University of Life Sciences, who were exploring biorefining biomass into lignin and its application as bio-asphalt. Third price went to team Algium from Swedish University of Agricultural Science, whose idea was to develop consumer and industrial products based on microalgae to increase carbon capture.
The last edition of NOBALIS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Capacity Development Program (EICD) will take place in the spring semester of 2024.
